My uncle, who lives [?], and is now about 75 years of age tells teh following story.

Owen Lyons is his name. He heard, his father tell the story.
Two young boys, bosom friends, lived near Ceharleville (Rai-leerc) Co. Cork.
One of them died suddenly and the other weas heart-broken. He could not get his companion out of his head, and had become quite melancholy. He often visited the companion's grave. One night as he was passing by the church yard the companion appeared to him, and asked him come next night to a neighbouring fort, where he ould find a pot of gold hidden
"You will be frightened" said the dead man, "but no harm will come to you, because I won't allow you to be hurt."
Next night the boy went to the fort and started to dig where his friend told him.
All of a sudden a furious bull appeared with fire coming out his eyes and nose, and made for the boy. Then his dead companion appeared and Paid. "Dig away I will hold back the bull.
