- There are fourteen fairs held in Dromcollogher every year. The largest of them is held on the 5th of November. At each fair tolls and customs must be paid. A person must pay one shilling for a rail, and threepence for every pig. If a person wants to put a tent in the Square to sell things, he must pay 3/5. A person must pay sixpence for a cow, a penny for a lamb, and threepence for a sheep. The buyer always marks the animal he buys, so that the person gathering the "tolls" would know if he was sold or not. The fairs of Dromcollogher are held on the Streets. Long ago they were held in Barnagrane, about a mile from the town. The river that runs through Dromcollogher is called, "Ath-na-Margaí, which means the ford of the markets. It is called that, because it is near it, the fairs and markets used be held
