Typhoid fever broke out in the parishes of Kilmeedy and Feenagh about forty years ago. It was of a very bad kind and was supposed to be a foreign fever brought home from India by a soldier. Most of the patients went to hospital and two died in some families. It was impossible to cure it because when the patient got nourishment the germs were nourished as well. It was very infectious especially in low lying districts. The story was told to me by my mother.
