- Weather LoreDuring the Harvest Season the farmers are anxious to save their crops from rain and are always looking for signs of fine weather. They say a red sky in the evening is a sure sign that the following day will be fine or on a Summers morning if a fog is seen all around and going out over the hills is also a sign of a fine day. But if a mist is seen coming in over the hills it is the sign of a wet day.
Some people say that a rainbow seen in the sky in the morning is the sign of a bad day. There is an old proverb '' A rainbow in the morning is a Shepherds warning and a rainbow in the night is the Shepherds delight.'' THe South- Westerly wind brings most rain to my district and the North wind brings snow. Birds flying low is also a sign of wet weather and if a cat is seen by the fire it is said that it denotes rain.
