There is only two forges in my parish and James Guiry and Michael Dwyer are the smiths but their people before them were bit smiths. The forges are situated at cross roads, one a Knockaderry and the other at Wall's Cross in Clounagh. The forge is a small black house, with a small window and a large door but of no special shape. The roof is made of timber and felt covered with tar. The fireplace is in the east end of the forge beside the bellows which are of a very ancient make. The smith shoes horses and asses but not cattle. The smith irons wheels in the open air(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
