This custom was practised first in Kerry and the bachelors were tied on to a big rock called Sceilg.

In my locality it is a custom to go out in the wren on St Stephens day. The young boys of the district come together about a week before hand and settle everything. They appoint a special place to start and they also appoint a man to keep the money that is a Cashier. They kill a wren on Christmas day and tie him up on a holly bush and keep him for the following day. On St Stephens day they
