- My Home District (Newbridge)
My home district is called Newbridge, which is situated in the towlnand of Ballyanne, about two miles east of Nutrove school, in the parish of Coolcappa, and in the barony of Shanid.There are about twelve families living in the townland. The most common names being Walshes and Caseys. Each family has a good way of living. Some being farmers, and others labourers and carpenters.The houses are very comfortable. About nine are thatched, and the others are slated. They are as numerous at present as they were formerly. The people did not emigrate to America or other foreign lands, to earn their living, but remained at home, and worked on their own farms. Very few old people live in the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
