  1. In the olden days there lived a pagan chief at Kilcosgriff who occupied the Castle there, like all other clans. They kept a piper to serve music at their gatherings, from time to time the old piper travelled around Ireland, in one of his exploits he reached as far as Donegal. While engaged there playing for a great banquet, his airs attracted a Donegal Coleen whose name was Floss, she being a great lover of music, selected Edinard as her companion, for many years they were closely united and lived in the districts of Kilcosgriff and Ballyegna. In those days many young people mysteriously disappeared and it was formerly believed that they were taken by demons. They people of the locality had a suspision that Floss was a Pagan witch though her husband Edinard was innocent of her craft until one night he returned from Ballyegna Castle to his home at Kilcolman Hill as he
