  1. About the year 1902 in Kinnard, Glin, there was a family named Kelly. The woman of the house was making butter. A neighbouring woman came in, and asked for seed, and the woman of the house gave her a live coal. She was suspicious that the woman would carry the butter. So she got another coal and quenched it. The woman came for seed again and she got it. But as soon as she was gone outside the door, the woman quenched another coal. The neighbouring woman did not succeed in carrying the butter.
