- About three hundred years ago when people got married they were very superstitious.
At certain times of the year they would consider it unlucky. Their dress was very curious. The men would wear knee breeches and big nailed boots, and handkerchiefs tied around their necks. The women would wear very long dresses, with whoops in their skirts and sun bonnets on their heads. The day of the wedding the neighbours would all come and they would have great fun dancing and singing. Some of them would bring a small pig in a basket and leave the pig run around the kitchen.
