When the seagull is seen on the land it is sure to be stormy weather. It is a sign of bad weather when the cat turns its back to the fire or when the dog eats grass. The hills and mountains seem near when bad weather is nigh. It is a sure sign of rain when the crickets sing sharply. When the spider leaves his cobweb it is also a sign of rain.
