- On Saint John's Eve all the children gathered bushes, broken boxes, papers and sticks. They made a big fire on top of a hill. In the evening a man set fire to it. When the fire was lighting, a group of girls - some with shawls and more with white dresses - marched around it playing a mouth-organ and a band. When the fire was nearly burned down all the girls and boys tried to jump over it.Information received fromThomas Canavan,
