- We have no churn at home but I heard tell of one. It is about three or four feet in height. The churn is two feet in top and in bottom, and it is shaped round. The churn is about ten years old. The various parts are the beaters and the vint. There is glass in one end of the churn, to know when the butter is made.
The butter is made twice a week in Summer and once a week in winter. The owner of the churn makes the butter. When a stranger comes in to the house the stranger has to twist the churn for fear the person who owned the churn might not be able to make any butter.
About a half an hour it takes to make the butter. The churning is done by hand. The churn-dash is given a rolling motion. When the end of the glass is clear then the people know the butter is made. They take(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
