  1. There are many wild birds in this district. The robin, thrush, blackbird, linnet, hawk, pigeon, magpie, snipe, plover, lark, finch, starling, cuckoo, corncrake, swallow, lady-wagtail, and sparrow are the wild birds. The cuckoo, corncrake, swallow, snipe, plover, and starling migrate and emigrate. The cuckoo, corncrake, swallow, come to Ireland in Sumer and leave in the Winter. The starling, snipe, and plover come to Ireland in Winter and go away in Summer.
    The crow builds her nest on tree tops, the swallow, in a ruin or house eve, the lark and corncrake on the ground, the blackbird and thrush on bushes, and the robin in a hole in the wall. The cuckoo builds no nest but she lays her eggs in other birds nests. The nests are made of hair, moss, mud, feathers sticks and hay.
    The nest is well hidden and hard to find. The eggs are usually the same colour as the place where she builds the nest. Nearly every bird lays five eggs except the wren who lays from twelve to sixteen. The female sits on the eggs for three weeks. If a boy or girl robs a nest the bird will forsake it and will not return to it any
