- Long ago the old people used say little prayers at certain times of the day to help them to work. Before getting up in the morning they used say. "My God I offer you all I say do or say or think today." Before work they used say, "My God I do this because it pleases you" or, God bless the work."
When going on a journey they said, "God speed us on our journey," or God bring us home safe."
When passing a church they said "O God I know you are there I love."
When going to bed they used say "I lay my body down to sleep. To God I give my soul to keep and if I die before I wake to God I give my soul to take."
When getting up in the morning they say. "May God deliver me from all evil this day."
