- The local fairs are held in Rathduff, Donoughmore and Mallow. The fairs are not always held in the towns. Buyers often transact business in the country near cross-roads. A few years ago Rathduff Fair was held at Rathduff Cross, but it is held in a fair field now.
There was a fair field on Fair Hill near Cork and it has being discontinued. This place was out of the way and the fair was held in Cork Corn Market. The hill got its name because the fair was held there. Fairs were often held on hills.
The town fair is held in a street. Toll is paid on cattle sold. This is paid at the gate of the market to a man.
