- On the 23rd of May 1819 there was a great fair held in Mitchelstown Co. Cork. Lord Kingston's famous stallion named "Samson" was present, and he was paraded through the streets.
The crowd soon noticed another horse much better than "Samson" with a rider about seven feet in height, whose name was Joyce, from Glanworth. The crowd became very jealous and they went to hunt Joyce out of the town.
Joyce took the bridle off the horse and told him to go for them.
The horse kicked and bit "Samson" and hunted the crowd off the square. The yeomen cavalry turned out to shoot him. Joyce held up his hand and whistled. The horse ran up to him(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
