    and they spend a most enjoyable time singing and dancing in honour of the newly married pair. This was visited by "straw boys" but not so much in this district as in Kerry where they are very numerous. Some time preceding the marriage every boy would be heard saying: "When are you going to give us the fourpence"? which was always given to the straw boys on an occasion like this. An old tradition concerning the dress is as follows:- Marry in red you'll wish yourself dead, Marry in grey you'll live far away, Marry in black you'll wish yourself back and Marry in blue you'll always be true. The wedding guests sometimes went home on horse back and the wife and husband shared the one animal
