“Every kind of animal makes its own peculiar kind of nest for rearing its young.”
Every kind of animal makes its own peculiar kind of nest for rearing its young. The rabbit makes a short burrow out in the middle of the field, At the end of the burrow she places dry grass and fur off her own body which make a very comfortable dry nest. In this she leaves her young which are black when born. They are also blind for about nine days. When the mother rabbit goes travelling she covers up the nest with dry grass and earth. She makes her nest out in the field because the old buck rabbit would kill the young ones if he could get at them. A rabbit has about six young ones.- Collector
