- There is an old ruin in Kanturk.
It is called Priestlies Castle.
Priestlies was the people's name who owned it.
The Irish people built this castle in protection from the Norman's.
During the war in 1916 when the outbreak was in Dublin. They hoisted the National Emblem off this castle.
The british troppes came there to take it down but none of them would venture their lives to take ti down.
