    Goats were much more common in this district in years gone by than they are now and about Easter time when the country people with cards reached the outskirts of the town (Ballydaheen or Broomlane) the owner of small butcher-shops would stop them and ask had they any kids or kid-shins for sale, and some of these dealers used to drive out in the country and call to the houses where they saw goats and kids, to purchases the kids for their shins. This practice is now discontinued.
