Another tradition is connection with Brittas is that one of the officers from Army Villa named Gavan Lowe set out one night accompanied by a few soldiers in civilian dress in search of a party of "Whiteboys" and that when returning he and his men were mistaken for Whiteboys by a party of soldiers in uniform and that the office - Gavan Lowe - was shot before the error was discovered.
