- When I was a pupil in the school of which I am now Principal, warts on boys' hands were much more common than they are now. Boys having them used to procure a small paper bag and place in it a small pebble for each wart, each as nearly as possible the size of the wart they wished to get rid of. The bag was then placed on the road where it was likely to be picked up by some one else, who, it was firmly believed, would then get the warts while the party who placed the parcel on the road would be relieved of them.
