- I Patrick O'Sullivan (above) says that "Daniel Linehan", supposed to be from "Freemount", Kanturk, and cousin to the late Jeremiah Linehan, Engineer, Kanturk held a night school during the winter months, in the home of "Arthur Moynihan", who lived in a farm-house, below the railway-bridge, on the passage leading to the house of Miss McCarthy, Fortgrady, Banteer. This Arthur Moynihan was a care-taker of dry cattle on McCarthy's farm. Patrick O'Sullivan was brought to this school on the back of his eldest brother, Con Sullivan. Another brother Mick Sullivan also attended here, as well as Paul Linehan, and Arthur Moynihan. The school was held in the kitchen, where a turf fire burned. He thinks there were some kind of oil lamps, but he cannot remember the subjects that were tonight, as he was very young at the time.II Patrick O'Sullivan also says, that he attended a day school about 1872, held by Daniel Linehan (above) in the house of "Denny Coleman" in the townland of Muingyroogeen, Banteer.
