The scene of this terrible deed is supposed to be at Gortmore, near Banteer, but local tradition more usually places it at Dromscarra Faill Dómhnall Cásga is still pointed out. It is difficult to say how much reliable history is behind this local legend.
The chieftains of Pobal OKeeffe when turned out by the stranger from their lordly castles and broad acres led a wild and wandering life in Western Duhallow, where the people showed them that hospitality and protection which they have never refused to the fallen chieftains of their ancient race.- Informant
