People had three meals a day in olden times. Breakfast dinner and supper. They had breakfast in the morning, and dinner about one o clock and dinner in the evenings after stopping work. People worked in the morning before having food. The breakfast consisted of Indian meal and thick milk. The dinner consisted of potatoes and skimmed milk. The supper consisted of Indian meal and skimmed milk. People ate in the middle of the floor. [?] bread was eaten and oat-meal. It was baked in a griddle. Meat was not eaten often. The meat that was generally eaten was veal. People did not eat late at night. Certain kinds of food were eaten on special occasions. Customs were attached to certain feast days.
