- 3.In the land, of my uncle, Mr. D. Dunlea, by the banks of the Blackwater, in the townland of Bridgetown, Castletownroche, barony of Fermoy, Co. Cork, there stand the ruins of an old monastery. The monastery was destroyed by Cromwell in his course through Ireland.
There are many and true stories told about the Abbey, and its surrounding districts, and one of the stories I will tell.
My uncle's father had a workman minding sheep for him, one night, in a field, which is called "The Lawn" overlooking the Abbey.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
