The clan of the O'Keeffes lived at or near Cullen.
It is said that the priest could not commence to
celebrate mass until all the O'Keeffes were present.
One morning, the priest came on the altar, and
asked "were the O'Keeffes present." They were not, but
toward the middle of mass, they arrived with thier
dogs. a lady of the O'Keeffes, during mass, showed
some disrespect toward the priest when he referred to
the dogs being in the sanctuary, one of which had
bitten him.
It is said "the priest cursed them for seven
generations" and that dogs go through the air
howling when one of the O'Keeffes are to die.

One night a man was returning from his work abut 10 p.m. he had remained at the house of his employer. This night it was later than usual. As he was walking by the bank of the river which runs through Glounamuckla, separating Mr Thos. Horgan's land from Mr Patrick O'Connell's in the same townland, he saw in the distance, what he thought was a woman, moving slowly about.
A dread feeling began to creep over him. He lost courage, and was unable to approach. Still he knew he should try to get home. He drew nearer to her.
