- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)mother had to work the dash up and down with the handle for about an hour until the butter came. This was very hard work, and if any body came in where the churn was being made they had to take a turn at the dash. If they did not the turn it was believed that the butter would not come.
When the butter came in lumps in the churn it was taken out in a wooden dish and the butter-milk was washed out of it with cold spring water. Then the butter was salted and made into rolls or stamped with a print and then it was ready for use.
