  1. Boils. Long ago the third race of smiths were looked upon as having a cure for a boil, by holding a red hot poker over it.
    Sore Eyes. Sore eyes were generally cured by putting a poultice of grated potatoes to it, or by rubbing a gold ring to it for three mornings fasting.
    Rheumatism. Rheumatism was cured by rubbing pickle water to the joints, or by drinking water out of the famous Spa in Mallow.
    Whooping Cough. Whooping Cough was cured by going under a donkey on three mornings fasting.
