  1. Blarney Castle is in the townland of Knocknagorty, in the North Parish, in the Barony of East Muskerry, and in the County of Cork.
The present Castle was built in the 15th century by Cormac Mc Carthy. It is almost about five hundred years old and was the third to be built. Its height is one hundred and twenty feet. The castle has been uninhabited for about 300 years.
When General Ireton came to Ireland he attacked the castle. With his artillery he damaged the roof of the castle and the slates of the roof are now said to be on Turpin's farmhouse in Dawstown.
There is a dungeon and some caves underneath the castle. It is said that prisoners were put to death there when Cromwell was in Ireland. There is a famous stone on the top of the castle and visitors come from all over the world to kiss it.
