- (continued from previous page)which we have been talking about was owned by a man called Mac Carthy. Not wishing to have it like a lawn in front of a gentleman's house he told his herdsman one night to hide himself in the field and see if anything would happen that would give him a clue to the meaning of the fields bareness. The herdsman did as he was bid and just as the moon was at its full six cows came up through the lake and started grazing on the field and when they had gone there was not one blade of grass remaining. Next morning the herdsman related to his master all that had taken place. He also said that if Mac Carthy wished he would go to the field again that night and try to go down with the cows to the bottom of the lake and demand satisfaction for(continues on next page)
