- My father told me a story about a man that used to visit a neighbours house every night "sgoruidheacting". He was a courageous man who did not believe in fairies or ghosts. Through the short cut which he used to pass there was a stream where a soldier was shot in former days. There was an old legend that the soldiers ghost used to haunt the place and shots were heard there occasionally. There were stepping stones to travel on when crossing the stream. One night when he was coming home from the neighbours house. He was crossing the stream and when he stood on the first step he heard what appeared to be a shot. He got nervous and was about to turn back but he plucked up courage and went on to find out what it was. He heard a second shot and became still more nervous. Having crossed the stream there was a big rock and the path which he used to travel was by its side. As he looked at the top of the rock in front of him he saw two goats rising on their hind legs, and the next thing he heard(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
