    I live in the townland of Knocknakilla in the parish of Millstreet in the Barony of West Muskerry. There are twelve families living in Knocknakilla and there are about eighty people. The name Murphy is most common

    Long ago there was a Catholic church built at the bottom of the hill of Knocknakilla and that is why it is called Cnoc-na-Cille
    There are a few people over seventy years. They tell some stories in Irish.
    The houses were more numerous in olden times than they are now. Some of the land is good but other parts of it are marshy and a few woods grow there also
