   There were a lot of old roads in the district long ago and the most of them were made in the famine times. There was an old road from Carragline to Kinsale, and there is scarcely none of that there now. Boreen na palac was another old road and the English of that was the lane of the Roses.

   Boreen na glas was another old road and the English of it was the green lane and it is an old lane now, it is going from Piercestown to Dia Liabh, people lived there long ago and the old ruins of the houses are still there, and during the times of the trouble local men dug a hole there and hid the guns and ammunition. The roads were first paths made by cows and then they were made into roads. The old road were very narrow because there was
