In olden times the people lived on potatoes and indian meal. They were up every morning at five o' clock and worked two hours before breakfast. They had indian meal boiled for their breakfast. They had potatoes and thick milk for their dinner, and the meal again for their supper, men had only 4/- a week and things were very cheap. They had brown cakes sometimes but it was seldom. The bread that they ate was called Seán [?] laidhir. It is about a hundred years since they got tea. They used drink sheeps milk at that time. They would have meat and tea at Easter and Christmas. 2.
The people were very healthy at that time. They used have the table at the centre of the house and when they would be eating they would have a pot on the fire. There was a big family in every house at that time.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
