    The wren the wren the king of all birds
    On St Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze
    From bush to bush and from tree to tree
    Going down to Minane Bridge he broke his knee
    The wren the wren that you may see
    Was guarded on my holly tree
    A bunch of ribbons by his side
    The Laharran boys may be his guide
    Sing holly, sing ivy, sing ivy, sing holly
    Xmas comes but once a year
    And when it comes it brings good cheer.
    So I wish you all a happy Xmas and a merry New Year
    I have a little box under my arm
    A penny or two will do it no harm
    Up with the kettle and down with the pot
    So give me my answer and let me be going
