That year a Mr. McGivern had a very good crop of potatoes which he generously gave to all who came for them. An old man reproved Mr McGivern for his generosity telling him that he would let his own family starve. Mr McGivern replied that as long as the potatoes lasted, he would. not allow anybody to starve.
