A Song
The following old song was given to me by Mr William Ross, a farmer, of Derryduff, a townland about two miles from St Edmunds School. Mr Ross repeated the song for me. He is eight three years old. It was composed by a man named Godsell. "Cullinagh"
In Cullinagh one day, as I chanced to go roving,
To view the fine haunts of the place
With its woodlands and valleys it looked there most charing
And all to enchant the tine place.ii
With the music of songbirds the place did resound.
For they came there from all parts to that fertile ground.
The nightingale (?) and lines in their course all around,
And all to enchant the fine place.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
