Long ago there were no motor cars on the orad for taking the mails to Cork and it was a horse and side car that took them from Schull to Cork.
They went by night and returned in the morning. It was one man who always took the mails.
One night as they were travelling on their journey the horses were not able to pull the load. They did not know what was wrong with the horse because he had only the usual load. The man looked back in the car and he was surprised to see a number of people sitting in the car near him.
He did not know who they were and he spoke to them but they never answered him. They remained in the car until they came as far as the Abbey gate. They left the car and disappeared.
