  1. The most harmful weeds on our farm are the are the crow-foot and bristlan. They are harmful because they spread rapidly and impoverish the soil. There are certain plants looked upon as growing only where lands are good such as the dandeloin and dock-leaf. The plants that are found only in poor land are gladham and the nettle.
There are certain plants that have cures. The gladham is a cure for the mumps. The dock-leaf is a cure for a sting or a burn. The dock-leaf is pulled and rubbed on the sting. The chick-weed and thistle serve as food for animals and garlic serves as food for people. The herbs were used in former times for cures and disease. The man who used them is Thomas Grenham Drumlosh. The sufferers were cured by this means.
