Other games were what were known as cutting turf - My man Jack the Bee etc but these games are discontinued. In the game known as cutting turf, the boys formed a line along the floor - one behind the other. Some lively old fellow with a strong belt or strap of leather called out a boy and after some questions & back-answers the old fellow chased the boy around the line of boys on the floor - striking at him with the strap until both were fairly exhausted. The boy was said to be sent home. This was to be continued with other boys until the line was exhausted - singing was also practised and is still. The old style of "Comallye" was and is in vogue. Every singer had a peculiar croning air of his own. At daybreak in former times the members of the family - relatives and neighbours again assembled and keened a caomed for a few minutes. This was most mournful & sad especially in the case of a youth. The practice is discontinued.
