  1. Written to commemorate the breaking down of Ballyvongane bridge, in the parish of Aghinagh, Co. Cork, in the year 1920.
    I
The sun in the west it was sinking,
Twas the eve of a bright April's Day,
When Con Moynihan and Tim Coakley came and told us.
To bring out crowbars right away.
    Chorus.
Then here's to the boys of Aghinagh,
Who feared not long journeys to go,
To tear up the roads and the bridges,
To baffle and conquer the foe.
    II
Then over the hills went the echo,
The sound of the crowbars and picks,
And other wild sounds of commotion,
Proclaimed that the boys they were bricks.
    Chorus.
    III
Dan Buckley was there with his rifle,
    Very important was he,
If the Black and Tans came he would shoot them,
And shout that Aghinagh was free.
