And in it Captain Taylor lies for Ireland he died to save,
He loved his native country thus, likewise his comrades true,
May the Lord have mercy on his soul who sleepeth in Carhue.

And Bergin was the murderer and Cooney was the spy.
    III
They dragged our rebel from his home, and beat him right to death.
"I am dying for my country", he said with his last breath,
"Let my comrades do their duty, until all hands are true,
When I am in my resting place in famous Carhue".
