  1. Long ago in this part of the country the people wore no shoes. The people in olden days could not afford to wear shoes because  they were too poor. They were bare-footed both Summer and Winter, and on that account their feet cures were very tough.
    At present when children leave the cradle they wear shoes, but when the Summer approaches they go bare-footed. In the first of Summer when the children leave off their shoes they think it very hard to walk on the rough roads, because their feet are very tender, but when they get used to it they like it very much. This is very healthy, but
