    The year after the Famine the people had to sow the buds of the old black potatoes and the year after that again the potatoes were so plenty that the people were not able to dig all the pratees that grew. The people had to eat grass and nettles - some eat the cattle and sheep Some eat the black potatoes mixed with turnips.
    Thousands died and some left for America.
    After the Famine men were given work here making roads. They were only paid 3d a day.
    When the men were working on the Hind River they got 8d a day and they used to pay another man to do their own work for them at home.
