  1. Dan O'Mahony of Ballydehob won fame in many a field of activity. Denis O'Riordan Kibronan was a good weight thrower he could throw half cwt twenty five feet. Jimmie McCarthy Dunmanway could lift five cwt. off the ground. HE could straighten a weight also with one hand weighting two cwt weight. His challender was Moriarty who challenged him at a show and McCarthy won. O'Mahony Rosscarbery was a swift runner. He challenged a yankee and he won. Daniel McCarthy Lissane and Peter O'Brien Shepperton won horse races. Timothy Burke Kilronan often caught hares and rabbits by running after them. Mr Bennit Dessert was a great walker and Mr Nyhan clonakily was a high jumper. He could jump six feet Mr James Ngham Drinagh school teacher was a good swimmer. He could swim a mile and a half without leaving the water.
