The birds usually seen around the village of Drimoleague are:-
The crow, jackdaw, magpie, thrush, robin, lark, wren, water-hen, heron, swallow, cuckoo, corncrake, sparrow, wild-duck and the blackbird.
The magpie - the magpie makes a very good nest on top of tree. There are people who believe certain signs about the magpie, One for sorrow, Two for love, three for marriage and four for birth.
Crow - is a black bird which builds it nest on the tops of high trees.
Robin - The robin is a small bird. It builds its nest in fences. It lays about six eggs. The robin is supposed to have got its red breast from a drop of precious Blood which fell from our Lord's Head on its breast.
The Wren - is the smallest bird but is called the King of all birds.
The sparrow - makes it nest under the eaves of houses. It likes to be near the houses.
