- Some seventy years ago a travelling woman reached Beach about three miles from Bantry and on entering a house begged for a cup of tea which was given to her. Being thankful for the kindness shown to her, she wished to do the people of the house a good turn. She was aware that their butter yield was not as it should be, so she asked for a basin of water which she stirred three times and it turned into pure cream. She told the people of the house that a neighbour was accountable for stealing the butter and that this neighbour would come to them for the loan of eggs and that when she did so the eggs were not to be given to her and if they were she would find some means of destroying them before they left the house so that the spell would be broken.
