of our games. Any number can take part in this game. One child is selected to be Jenny and another her mother. Jenny is supposed to be ill. The children join hands and come to inquire how Jenny is. Sometimes she is very ill, other times is improved, again she is visited by priest and doctor who hold out hope for her recovery. Finally she is stated to be dead. Then the Keening commences. The children gather round the dead Jenny and cover her with grass or hay. All of a sudden the dead Jenny jumps up, pursues the children and the one she catches takes Jenny's place. This continues until play hour is over.
Perhaps our best-known game for indoor amusement in the long winter evenings is a game of Rings.
